A fun trip, nice group of fellow drunk- er, tourists to share with, very interesting. So add that to the 90 deg day, wine, beer and whiskey glazed mini donuts we were done. Mind you prior to the tour we sampled the white lightning (60 proof) at a distillery at Marathon Motors section by Bicentennial Park. Hello brain freeze !! A surprise shop at a mini donut shop for a whiskey-glazed mini-donut and coffee. Heading to the 5 points area of East Nashville we stopped at a bar to have a Bushwhacker, a semi-frozen concoction of Kahlua and other good things. The don’t call it hot chicken for nothing !!! We had a small glass of beer to put out the fire. There we “experienced” Hot Chicken on a mini biscuit about the size of a silver dollar. Now onto a spot called the Listening Room where songwriters mingle to offer their craft. We had a slice of brisket and a dry-rubbed rib. We ate at the downtown Martin’s our first night in town so we knew what to expect. Next stop after driving around was a Martin’s BBQ. We had a small bowl of pulled pork and grits w/bacon and sampled 3 diff wines. The Farmer’s Market located in Bicentennial Park was our first visit. He cooled the van down prior to our entry, gave some sightseeing info and headed to our first stop. Joined up with 3 other couples, we sat and identified where we’re from, Curt went over some basic rules and off we went. Finally we spotted our driver Curt and he opened up for us to escape the heat. After taking relief on a shady porch of a nearby lawyer’s office (Gotta love the lawyers !!!). They ask you arrive 15 mins early but we got there some 45 mins early to find the door locked and no one answering the phone. We then walked in 90 deg heat 1/2 mi thru a sketchy outskirts of town down to 3rd St. Hi gang, Adding a food tour to our itinerary of Nashville, we stayed on the Old Town Trolley loop until stop #6, the Musicians’ Hall of Fame. ![]()
